My records say that none of the Jefferson and Franklin County Cockrums would claim to be related to Charles Mills Cockrum, Naomi's father and that rumor had it that the last name was Mills not Cockrum. This is speculation.
Charles married Naomi Brown, daughter of Stephen Brown and Elizabeth Spoon from Guilford, NC. I have more information on this if you are interested.
