ANDERSON COCKRILL (WILLIAM1) was born 12 Dec 1778, and died 27 Oct 1861 in San Jose, Santa Clara Co CA... He married REBECCA VENABLE 19 Feb 1799 in Spartanburg Co SC, daughter of JOSEPH VENABLE and LUCY DAVENPORT. She was born 5 Nov 1785 in NC, and died 10 Apr 1872 in Salinas, Monterey Co CA, buried County Hospital Cemetery..
*Notes for ANDERSON COCKRILL: The Anderson Cockrill families moved from (mostly Bates Co) MO to CA in 1854 with the Hagen/Zilhart wagon train. Two of his children, Joseph and Cynthia, and their families, stayed in KY when the rest of the family went to MO from KY, then on to CA in the mid 1800s. The 1850 Bates Co MO census spells the name Cockerill. They changed to 'Cockrill' in CA.
