Thomas Cockrell d. about 1777, son of John & Eliz. or son of John & Lucretia

Hi List,

I'm trying to determine whether Thomas Cockrell who died in Loudoun
County, VA about 1777 was the son of John Jr. and Elizabeth Presley, or
the son of John and Lucretia Neale.

I know from Beverley Fleet's transcriptions of the Northumberland
records that John Jr. and Elizabeth had a son named Thomas born in 1699. Is
there any other evidence which identifies Thomas who died in Loudoun
County, VA as their son apart from the birth record?

A case could also be made that he was the son of John and Lucretia
Neale since there supposedly exists a document in the Westmoreland records
that a John Cockrell deeded to his son Thomas 50 acres in Cople parish
in 1734. I haven't been able to confirm whether this document exists
or not.

Thomas of Loudoun, VA's son Jeremiah had a relationship of some sort
with members of the Neale family as well as his son-in-law Charles Turley
of Fairfax County but maybe the link to the Neale family comes by way
of the Presley family or some other family.

Anybody care to add to this or comment on it? Thomas Cockrell of
Loudoun, VA was my ancestor so I would like to sort the pros and cons
regarding who were his parents.

Thanks for your help,

Chuck Owens
