Cyndi, I have copies of a pension application for a Hanson Cockeril from the DAR Pension Applications, Volume 20. On 20 Jul 1839, his widow Sarah, aged 79, declared he was a private in the co. of Col. George West. According to further legal info in the application, she was m. 01 Jul 1788, Loudoun Co, VA. Her name was Sally Watson, spinster, of Cameron Parish. Security for the marriage bond was Thomas Kennan. In the first deposition she gave Hanson's death date as 14 May 1814. Further information speaks about Gabriel and saids he was said by some to be a brother of Hanson and by others to be a son of Hanson & Sarah. He m. Lucinda Shiplet 05 Mar 1835, Muskingum Co, OH. I have info on his estate. Another Hanson Cockrell is listed giving his relationship as first cousin of Gabriel. He m. Evaline Shiplet, a niece of Lucinda Shiplet Cockeril Gray. They had 12 children, two of whom were living in 1906. Mary Virginia, age 60, living in Zanesville and Frank, aged 57 or 58. This application and legal documents include too much information to post here. Please feel free to Email me directly. I will be more than glad to share.
