Johnson Co. MO - J.Vard and Maranda Jane Douglass Cockrell

Maranda "Jane" Douglass was the wife of Jeremiah Vardeman Cockrell, the "Colonel Vard" of Lone Jack fame. They married in 1852.

Maranda Jane was the daughter of Elmore & Elender Douglass.

According to a posting on the Sumner Co.TN forum at Rootsweb, Elmore DOUGLASS, (son of Elmore, Sr. & Betsy Blakemore DOUGLASS, (son of Edward & Sarah George DOUGLASS) was married to Elender COCKE.

The 1820 marriage occurred in Wayne Co, KY.

They moved to Johnson Co., MO by 1830 when Maranda Jane Douglass was a toddler.

Apparently Elender Cocke DOUGLASS is the eldest daughter of Jester Gwinn COCKE, Sr. And apparently there is no information available online as to whom is her mother.

I am curious whether anyone knows anything about the wife of Jeremiah Vardeman COCKRELL who was born in Johnson County, MO, died in Abilene, TX, was the son of Joseph COCKRELL, and elder brother of Senator Francis Marion COCKRELL.

Also, I am unable to locate the location, date, and reason for death for either Elmore James DOUGLASS or his wife Elender Cocke DOUGLASS.

On the census, the name Elender appears, but on the two online references I discovered, she was referred to as Eleanor COCKE and I believe that she had a grandaughter named after her, but spelled: Ellender DOUGLASS - i.e., first name spelled with 'double-L.'

I do not know what name she went by, but her daughter Maranda was known by her middle name Jane.

Does anyone happen to know where Jane Douglass COCKRELL and her children Mary Iola, Fred, Nancy, Joe and Lula lived after their house was burned down ( - this happened soon before the battle of Lone Jack, but I don't have any further details about it, and I was curious if they remained in the Warrensburg or Johnson County area.)
