Hi Reinhart,

Thanks for the response. I have that particular record on order with the archives, it is possible the index has a typo. But even if 1845 is correct, then who would be the mother of the first 2 children, Alexander and Francis Marion (they were reportedly born 1841 and 1842)? Just thinking out loud I guess.
To answer your question, yes they did. Moses, his brother Thomas J. and his sister Elizabeth (married Henry Stipp) all resided in Franklin Twsp in 1860. The rest of the Cockrell family was living in Cass County, MO and the Kansas Territory in 1860 (Pottawatomie Co.).
Moses Cockrell died in Newtonia, MO (I believe) in August 1882. His wife, Margaret Cockrell (maiden name Craig) died in Newtonia as well, but about June 1888. I have not been able to find where they are buried or found a death book entry just yet. That is on my long list of "to do's". LOL!!
Thanks again,
Glenn
