Simon Cockrell of Russell Co., Virginia, a Baptist preacher , had (13) children .
One of his sons , Joseph , entered inti land titles in what is now Johnson County , Mo. , in1828. The county was organized in 1834 and was elected its first sherriff , he died there on Nov. 3 1837 . Joseph by his first wife had (1) child Simon , who died near Birdville , (Tarrant Co.)Texas , [ More available]
