Alexander Cockrell of Clay County Illinois in 1840 was named in the list of heirs of Simon Cockrell found at the Cass County archives in Harrisonville, MO. Van Buren County, Missouri which later became Cass County is the origin of this record. Other siblings listed as residing in Clay County Illinois are Sally Davis and Betsy Sergeant. Simon Cockrell is buried in the family cemetery in Johnson County, Missouri named Old Bethel Cemetery without a headstone. Simon Cockrell died intestate and the administrator of his estate was William Cockrell, his son, also a Baptist minister. This son Alexander Cockrell died intestate and there were two sons that administered his estate one was Simon Boliver Cockrell and the other was Mordecai Cockrell. Among the 45 pieces of his estate settlement all of his children are named. Could this be the same Alexander Cockrell? See COCKRELL CONNECTIONS for a comparison.
