JACOB COCHRAN/COCKRAM who married CELIA/SELAH/CECILIA may have been the son of WILLIAM COCKRAM/COCKERHAM, who is listed in the 1810 Spartanburg Co SC census, and witnessed a land deed in Spartanburg SC in 1812.
CELIA/SELAH/CECILIA (maiden name unknown) was a granddaughter of SUSANNAH, wife of DAVID BRUTON Sr (but probably from a previous marriage?). I have not been able to find out who her parents were. However, SUSANNAH left CELIA'S children property in her estate (see previous entry for SUSANNAH BRUTON's will:
--1825 March 28 Spartanburg SC; SUSANNAH BREWTON (Spartanburg) to great granddaughter REBECCA ADELINE COCHRAN; for love and affection give a feather bed and teester, bedstead, 8 counterpins (counterpanes?), 8 bedquilts, an oven leds (?), a pine table, an oven and lid, a frying pan, a cupboard, 2 pewter plates, 5 earthen plates, 2 pitchers, 2 mugs, 6 earthen bowls, a spinning wheel, a black chest, and a set of canapies (canopies?). SUSANNAH BREWTON keeps the stuff until she dies. Witnessed : Joseph Woodruff, Harrison Woodruff, and Thomas Woodruff III. Signed SUSANNAH BREWTON's mark. Wit. Oath Nov 4, 1825 Thomas Woodruff III to Philip Brewton. Recd. Nov 12, 1825.
