Hi Pam and Cockxxxx Cousins! Here is my two cents.According to Cockrell/Cockerill/Cockrill Researcher Coldham: In Wiltshire England, there is recorded evidence of a J. Cockrell in 1262 at the time of King Henry the third. There is a Jeremiah Cockrell in New Sarum recorded in 1640.Ther is also on record on a Patrick Cockrell who was a passenger to the US in 1700's.A Walter Cottrell shows up in Maryland recorded, 1638-50.I think the brothers you heard about is the story passed down about the two brothers with the first Lord Baltimore 0f 1634.I don't know if written evidence was ever located in the latter.I come down from the John Cockrell line and I do believe that Cockrill Researcher Burgess says that just my line has 13 different spellings of Cockrell. There are more Cockrells in the USA then in the rest of the world put together with Texas being number one with over 3000 households of Cockxxxx's.I have heard that Cockrell means "Keeper Of Cocks" aka Chicken Farmer but I am not sure how true that is.Now if I could just find my hidden Cockrells, I could shut up!Ha haBlessings, Tami
