The earlier generations are still considerably up for grabs as far as exact relationships. The trail is a bit thin. There is considerable evidence that these early folks came to Virginia via Barbados of all places, because of the English sugar colony there at the time (early 1600s).
I do have a fairly detailed outline on the descendants of David Cockerham b. 25 Nov 1763 d. 26 May 1856 who was the son of John Cockerham Jr. and Candice ---. David as you show was married to Mary Ann Burch. I believe their children were:
Rev. Pleasant Branch Cockerham 1791-1854 m. Elizabeth Thompson (Williams?)
Thomas C. Cockerham b. 1792 m. Elizabeth K. Roberts
John Cockerham 1793-1811 m. Elizabeth Betsy Jones
Daniel Chandler Cockerham 1795-1877 m. Sarah Burch Roberts
Hughs Cockerham 1797-1877 m. Nancy Roberts
John William Cockerham m. Elizabeth Hill??
Charity Jane Cockerham b. 1800 m. Aaron Woodruff Sr.
Elizabeth Cockerham m. Robert Wilbourne 1795-1883 (parents of Elliott Welborn,Frances Marion Welborn, Richard Welborn and Sarah Ann Welborn)
Sarah Cockerham
Joseph Martin Cockerham 1807-1873 m. Sally Marshall?
David Cockerham 1763-1856 is believed to have been the son of John Cockerham Sr. 1730/35 who married Candace/Candis ca 1758 in Lunenburg Co. VA. She signed a will 20 Jun 1803. Edward Winn administered John Sr.'s estate in Sep 1805. Before John Sr. the details get fuzzy. I'll be happy to send my file if you will contact me directly. It won't have the answers, but may help sort out the questions? Yes, the folks you list are certainly the players. The relationships are a little speculative at best. If I seem a little dumb concerning these folks, please remember that they are not my Cockerham line, but lived within rock throwing distance both in Halifax Co. VA and later in Surry/Wilkes Counties in North Carolina from my Humphrey Cockerham, son of Daniel d. 1767 in Halifax. Humphrey is my "immigrant" to North Carolina having arrived in Wilkes Co. about 1777, pretty much the same time as your folks. It is taken me and mostly other much smarter folks about 35 years to get them separated! Let me know if you want the file. The price is right.
