I wonder if the mother of Maranda Jane Douglass COCKRELL is the eldest daughter of Jester Gwinn COCKE.
There are only two mentions of an Eleanor COCKE online, and both of them state that she married Elmore DOUGLASS.
Elender & Elmore DOUGLASS, married in Wayne Co., KY are the parents of Maranda "Jane" DOUGLASS who married Jeremiah Vardeman COCKRELL in Johnson Co., MO.
I do not have a date or location for the death of either Elmore James DOUGLASS or his wife Elender Cocke DOUGLASS.
It is possible that Elender DOUGLASS is the daughter of Jester COCKE, (AKA: Jester Gwinn COCKE, or Jester Guinn COCKE) and his first wife, whose identity is unknown.
Elmore DOUGLASS, Jr. is the son of Elmore and Elizabeth Blakemore DOUGLASS, and the grandson of Edward and Sarah George DOUGLASS.
I'm very curious to learn what happened to Elmore & Elender COCKE Douglass. I wonder if like so many others, they had gold rush fever and went out to California?
I wonder who Elender's parents are? And who is the first wife of Jester Gwinn COCKE, and if she's ever identified, how will the original records spell her surname ?
( COX or COCKS or COKE or COCKE or ... ?? )
