Grandson of William Cocke & Elizabeth of Stottesdon, Shropshire (aka Salop), England.
Son of Thomas Cocke of Stottesdon, Shropshire, England:

Richard Cocke I, the immigrant to VA by 1632, 1597-1665 of 'Pickthorn Farm', Shropshire, England.
[originally thought B./CHR.1602 but this Richard a son of John Cocke & Elizabeth of Wallfurlong, died & was buried 1632 in England].
Born 1597 Stottesdon, Shropshire, Eng.
Baptized 13 Dec 1597 Sidbury Parish, Shropshire, Eng.
Died 4 Oct 1665 'Bremo', Henrico Co., VA.
Buried in garden at 'Bremo', beside first wife.

Married:
1. Temperance Baley Browne widow of John Browne.
Born 1617 at Jamestown, VA. and married c. 1637 at 'Bailey's Point', Henrico Co., VA she died 1651/52 at 'Bremo', Henrico Co., VA. Dau of Cicely Reynolds & Abraham or Richard or Thomas Baley (aka Bailey) of 'Bailey's Point'.
Temperance was their only child and married John Browne at 13 years of age c. 1630, he died two years later c. 1632 leaving a widow with two young babes.
[Cicely married the first time at age 16 years, and remarried as a widow four more times, 2. Samuel Jordan of 'Jordan's Journey' as his second wife Issue: both marriages; 3. William Farrar of 'Jordan's Journey' Issue: ; 4. Peter Montague Issue: ; 5. Thomas Parker]

Issue: of Temperance = 3 Browne children (one died young) John & ; = 2 Cocke children.
i Thomas Cocke 1638-1696 of'Pickthorn Farm', Henrico Co., VA.
ii Richard Cocke 'the elder' 10 Dec 1639-20 Nov 1706. of 'Bremo'.
Married Elizabeth Hartwell b. 1643 dau of John Hartwell of 'Swann's Point', Surry Co., VA; gr dau of William Hartwell, J.P. James City.
[possibly another marriage to Elizabeth Littlebury - Is Littlebury actually Elizabeth Hartwell, or another wife? or simply misplaced as to where she belongs?-see below]

2. Mary Aston Dau of Lt. Col. Walter Aston.
Issue: 5 additional Cocke children:
