Look for ancestors of Richard Cocke of Bremo in Shropshire (not Hereford). Richard's eldest son Thomas described himself as "Thomas Cocke of Pickthorne Farm in the County of Henrico" in a deed. There is a hamlet called Pickthorne in the Parish of Stottesdon, Shropshire, and several Cockes are known to have lived near there (There was a Thomas Cocke of Pickthorne, Shropshire, but he only named daughters in his will). There must be a connection. My grandmother thought Richard's father might be named John.
