Hope you still monitor the board after two years. I have a Thomas Coke/Cocke who was born in 1838 in Tennessee. He was a brother of my GGGgrandfather. I have no further information on Thomas, But could give you the entire lineage back to England if you think this could be a match.

If this is your Thomas, his father was Spillsby Coke and his mother was Elizabeth Tribble Coke.

Spillsby is found in the 1840 census in both Montgomery County and Dickson County, spelled Cocke on time and Coke the next. This could happen due to how long it took to complete the census and the spelling/translation of the writing. Spillsby is buried in Arkansas under the last name Cox.
