My ggggrandfather, David Clinton Cocke according to family tradition, was the irect descendant of Walter Cocke who transported settlers to VA circa 1680. I can document my lineage back to him. also, according to family tradition, h and his wife, Jemima Leach migrated to what is now Scott County VA from the Yadkin River Valley of NC around 1770, but I cn find no record of their residence in NC nor can I find any record of
their marriage in VA or NC.
Through Surry County VA wills I have traced
the descent of Walter Cocke to Thomas cocke to Lemuel Cocke to Henry Cocke who had a son
named David, but I don't know if this is my David. Does any kind soul have any info or advice that would help me pin down my illusive David.
He should be listed somewhere in the following counnties VA Surry, Russell, and/or Scott NC Rowan or Surry
Any help would be gretly appreiated.
