ELIZ. DANIELS AS WIFE OF 3rd GENERATION JOHN BATES d1719 This tradition was questioned by article published in "Bates Booster" Newsletter No. 188, dated May 2005, The researcher argued with reason that Elizabeth Daniels was wife of 2nd generation John Bates, the brother of George Bates d1677. The first and only wife of 3rd generation John Bates d1719 was Hannah Tindall. One George Tindall, perhaps a brother of Hannah, in a will dated 4 November 1702 mentions wife Elizabeth, but no children. He gives to loving Godson John Bates, son of John Bates and Hannah his wife my dwelling Plantation and all my tract of land.
