To your question about Capt. Nail: It appears that the Capt. Nail is the one referred to in John Webb's pension application (S. 32055): "The said Deponent to the best of his recollection in January 1777 he volunteered under Captain Joseph Nail who erected a Fort against the Indians called Nail's Fort near Broad River Wilkes County, Georgia."
