I was a pleasantly surprised to get your posting on the Cockburns.I think I can explain the differences in our lists of George Lemuel Cockburn's children.
Arthur is listed as one year old in the 1850 census in the family of "Lem" Cockburn.I'm sure this is the right family because wife Frances and the other children are also listed.Arthur is not in the 1860 census so he apparently died between censuses.
Octavia was listed as five years old in the 1860 census in the family of "Leml" Cockburn. Again, I'm sure this is the right family because wife Frances and the other children are also listed.
I'm guessing that your Edona (b. about 1840)and my Indiana (b. March 1839) are the same person.Indiana was my great grandmother.Spelled phonetically, Indiana could have become Edona.
All of my family records list Indiana as a Coburn, so apparently that's where Cockburn was chaged to Coburn in my family.
I have information on Cockburns back to George Cockburn Sr. B. about 1750. Some of it is documented - some of it is pretty soft.I'd be glad to share it if you are interested.
