Thanks, Ray. What's the record that shows that Rachel must have been over 21 in 1806? I appreciate your analysis about Elizabeth Conner. I didn't believe that Elizabeth Conner married George: 1) because the second Elizabeth would have probably given birth to John (who was born in 1799), 2) the pension application was done in 1854, and that means that she probably would have been mentioned in George Cockburn's 1834 will (but she wasn't), 3) George lived in Franklin Co (not Clark Co), and 4) George always used the name Cockburn (not Cogburn). Just in case you're interested, the Conner pension abstract states: Clarke Co. Ga. Revolution claim: DANIEL CONNER, Ga. service, wounded. Claim Feb 7, 1854, ELIZABETH COGBURN, daughter of DANIEL. Daniel died Aug, 30, 1837, pensioner. His wife MARTHA died Apr. 13. 1842. Claim rejected. Claim by son EDWARD CONNER never acted upon, (1854) I think that, since I believe that there was probably a second wife, that people have confused Elizabeth Snyder with Jeremiah's mother, so they assume that Elizabeth Snyder was born in Germany. Jeremiah's 1880 census record is the only record that I have found that lists a mother's place of birth (he was the only child to live until 1880, when the census listed parents' places of birth). If Elizabeth Snyder and Elizabeth Unknown turn out to have both been from Germany, I agree that it would be a huge coincidence. However, the big gap in the known children's ages and the minimum age of Elizabeth Snyder in 1812, when Clark Cockburn was born, indicate to me that Clark and Jeremiah's mother was a different woman.
