George Cockburn's son John married Nancy Gage, who was 1/2 Catawba Indian.John and Nancy's son Montevale Cicero married Minnie Ella Decker who was 1/8 Cherokee Indian, and her grandfather T.L. Carpenter was a Cherokee chief. The woman who answered you said two of John's brothers also married Indians. It is because they were part Indian. Many of them lived in Caddo Gap, Arkansas and are buried there.Caddo Gap is on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border close to the Indian reservation at Ft. Smith.I have a picture of Nancy Gage.Minnie Ella lived with my mother's family when she was old and died with them.If I can answer any more questions, feel free.
