Dear Mr. Cockburn..

I am interested in what you have written.
My ancestor was named James Cockburn. He
married my third great-grandmother,
Margaret Acheson (the daughter of John
Acheson and Sarah Elizabeth Adams) in
St. Patrick, New Brunswick, Canada. His
daughter Sarah Elizabeth Cockburn, was
my second great-grandmother. Sarah was
the eldest of many chilldren. She married
John Cramer Towle, whose family came
originally from New Hampshire to Maine and
then to NB, and they eventually moved to
Hazelton, Michigan. Two of Sarah's brothers,
William and John Cockburn, left New
Brunswick and headed for Texas prior to the
US Civil War, and they remained in Texas.
I have been unable to locate James Cockburn's
family in Canada or to locate any information
about where he might have come from. Could
you give me the birth date of your James
Cockburn? I am sure that it is a longshot,
except for the fact that our family has
and is very involved in medicine. My
daughter is a young physician and several
members of my family are doctors.
That may or may not mean anything. My
E-Mail address is <mcs6933@flash.net>.

Marilyn
