Hello,
In Feb., 2003 I made a trip from TX to Murray Co GA to the courthouse in Chatsworth. I found in the index the name of Clark Terrell Cockburn. I looked for the page referenced. I could not find it so asked a worker there for help. She looked, then with a disgusted expression said, "It's been torn out." I looked at her in disbelief. She said, "Yes, unfortunately it happens."
I found the record of John Cockburn's marriage to Nancy Gage and that of Sarah Cockburn to Wm. R. Sutherland there. That lets them and their descendants off the hook as culprits.
If that page is in the possession of anyone reading this it would be the honorable thing to do to return it to the Courthouse in Chatsworth, GA, either in person with an apology or anonomously by mail.
This may clear up the question of why the official record of Clark Terrell Cockburn's marriage to Sarah Carroll cannot be found in the Murray Co GA records.
