We are researching a Mary Coburn who married an Issac Eason about 1752 in Pitt County NC. In conducting the research, we continue to run into a Cockburn variation of the last name. Was the "CK" silent in the pronunciation of Cockburn in the early periods givning us the two variations? Thanks Ed DeShields Notify Administrator about this message?
