I have traced Alley Cock Tolberd from Grayson/Carroll, Va. in 1834 to Montgomery County Virginia by 1850. By 1870 Macon County Illinois census widowed John Tolberd is alone with some children in Niantic Twp-new children since 1850 census are Emmale (?Emily) age 17, Ambrose 14 y/o and John 12 y/o. I can't find Alley/Allah & John and family on 1860 census for Montgomery Co. Virginia or in Illinois. Howevr, he is in Niantic Twp. Illinois by 1866 according to tax assessment list. Does anyone have info concerning this family? The name appears with "d" ending beginning in 1845 deed of Carroll County and continues in Macon County Illinois records.
