QUOTE from his obituary in The Kansas Agriculturist, April 15, 1875: "He was born in Ohio April 21, 1812, married at the age of 20 to Hannah Dickman and migrated to Shelby County IL, in 1843." UNQUOTE. His first four children were born in Hamilton Co, IN. His fifth child was born in Shelby Co., IL in 1842. Other records show his birth in Bourbon Co., KY, 1806 and marriage to Hannah in Ohio at a later date. 1850 Census, Ottuma, IA, shows his birth in Ohio, 1814. 1875 Census, Westmoreland, Rock Creek Township, Pottawatomie Co., KS shows birth Ohio, 1812.
Take your pick. I have been unable to verify any of the dates or places. I have nothing on an Ohio birth in 1803.
