hi.My great grandma McVoy was named ELIZA COCKRAN and as far as I know she lived in Calvert County MD and wasn't born until around 1861 so it's probably not yours. However I did grow up in Cumberland county PA so you never know!!!

anyway, I found another post for an ELIZA from a NY family with alot of similar names as you cite in your query.

It is below and posted by a Fred Strain in
reference to HUGH COCHRAN b.~1879 in N.Ire. It says he came to NY and died in Ripley NY in 1850's. It lists his children as:
NANCY,JAMES,SARAH,JOHN,ALEXANDER,ELIZA, WILLIAM AND RACHEL.

I noticed it as I am desperately trying to figure out where my great grandma ELIZA COCKRAN came from. I notice you both have very similar names on your query but the dates and places are off. I grew up in Cumberland County PA and know that many of our ancestors did orig. arrive in NY or PHILA and migrated to Cumberland Co. BEST WISHES
