Cochranes in Scottish Borders

I am seeking furhter info on my Cochrane line;

Thomas Cochrane (b 1843, Stow Scottish Borders) married Elizabeth Rebton (b 1847, Lauder, Berwickshire) in Ladhope Selkirkshire 1868.

Their children were William b1868, John and George(twins)1871, Phillis b 1872, Janet b 1877, Thomas b 1881, George,b 1874 (my g grandfather) and Maggie b 1883.

I am trying to trace info on the death of the twins John and George Cochrane born Ladhope, Galashiels, on 19.3.1871.

I'm presuming that George at least, was dead by the end of 1874, as the name was re-used for a subsequent child, my g grandfather. As I can find no later trace of the twins, however, I am assuming that they both died, possibly in early infancy.

The previous generation ie Thomas Cochrane 1843's parents were Willaim Cochrane and Janer Burnet(t), married in Melrose 22.4.1842. Here my line runs cold!

Does this fit with your line? Any help greatly appreciated

Laura
