While researching the Council family, my mother ran across a bit about Thomas Cochran running away. Her notes aren't very specific; however it reads " Thomas Cochran left home in New England, came south because of a disagreement with father, changed his birthdate to 1746 to lose his identity, married Lucretia Council April 4, 1771. Robert Cochran of Charleston must have been his brother as Thomas named his son Robert instead of Thomas as he and his father were at disagreement. The will of Thomas Cochran mentions a wife, Elizabeth, sons Claudius and Robert, and possibly Robert's 2 daughters, Hannah and Mariah."
