Well howdy cousin! I found some VERY interesting info in the MD STATE ARCHIVES'
death and burial records on-line today.
MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS were:
CAPT.MARTIN N.MCVOY,SR, b.5-14-1841,PENSACOLA,FL and d.1924
-CALVERT CO MD-
and his wife,
ELIZA JANE COCHRANE MCVOY,
b.1861 and d.1931. Apparently she was
a lifelong resident of CALVERT CO MD.(?)
** They are BOTH buried together at
CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH in PORT REPUBLIC,
CALVERT CO MD. And their infant son,
MURPHY MCVOY,b.1894, buried 10-1895.
ok- ELIZA JANE COCHRANE MCVOY'S parents appear to be those COCHRANE'S buried at
the same church. The names fit as do the
dates:
ELIZA FOWLER was apparently really named
"ETHEL ELIZABETH FOWLER" and married
"WILLIAM HENRY COCHRANE" sometime prior to
1860.
DO YOU KNOW WHO "ETHEL ELIZABETH FOWLER'S"
PARENTS WERE or WHERE and WHEN she was born?
The only thing about her I know other than the name of her husband and her children,
was that she had a cousin named SOPHIA FOWLER
who married WILLIAM'S brother JAMES and they
had at least 2 daughters. Perhaps more.
WILLIAM and JAMES do not show up until the
CALVERT CO CENSUS in 1860 from the info I've
been sent. In 1860, WM is listed as 35, so
that would make him b.circa 1825. In the
same census, ELIZA is listed as age 30, so that would put her birth at circa 1830.
Does your info concur?
The MARYLAND STATE ARCHIVES list their burials at CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH in PORT
REPBULIC MD (CALVERT CO.)
ETHEL ELIZABETH buried 6-03-1895.
WILLIAM HENRY buried 11-26-1896.
