Thomas COCHRAN[e] b.c1760?? who m. Eliza C. TORRANCE in/of Charleston, SC area

I am searching for info on the Thomas COCHRAN[e] who married Eliza C. TORRANCE/Torrence in/of Charleston, SC.
I am trying to find out if these Cochran's link to those lines from Topsham/Brunswick, Maine area whose line seems to also descend from an early Thomas COCHRAN (spelled that way).

In the 1850 Charleston, SC census are found -
T.C., J.C. or I.C. COCHRAN (hard to make out what his first initial is), age 44 Bank Officer b. SC
Eliza C. COCHRAN age 77 (so b.c1777) b. SC
William L. Cochran prob. a younger son of Eliza's b. SC
and living with them are:
James G. MOODIE age 48 Bank Officer b. SC
Rosa A. Moodie b. SC
and their family of several children all b. SC
*********************
Eliza C. Cochran was nee Torrance/Torrence (various spellings on this name) who married a Thomas COCHRAN.
Thomas and Eliza had daughter Rosa (Rosella) who married James Gairden MOODIE.

James and Rosella's daughter Caroline E. MOODIE married Henry Lewis CHISOLM in 1852 Charleston, SC son of Robert Trail Chisolm (last name spelled that way in this Charleston branch of the family).

I am trying to determine if these Cochran's in Charleston link back to the early Cochran's of Topsham and Brunswick, Maine who were very early settlers there from Nor. Ireland and Scotland. Wheeler & Wheeler book called the History of Brunswick, Topsham and Harpswell, Maine publ. in 1878 and found online (or at least it was), has several tid bits about these early Cochran's but says that the Thomas Cochran line was not related to the early James or John Cochran line of that area. I am inclined to disagree because Thomas named 3 of his sons James, John and William.
These are precisely the names of those earliest descendants of the John Cochran line or James Cochran whomever was the immigrant of that branch to Maine.

There is a link with the PATTEN's/Patton's and the WILSON families in Maine and several others as well between these Cochran's. My family tree also links to these same folks in Maine as my Moody (spelled that way but prob. orig. spelled MOODIE as our family seems to have come from Scotland through Nor. Ireland to Nor. America...per Ydna results).

If there is a link between these Northern and Southern Cochran's I am trying to find it in order to see if this Thomas COCHRAN of Charleston, SC is indeed a part of the early 1700's Thomas COCHRAN of Topsham/Brunswick, Maine.

If anyone can help I would be most greatful if you would leave a message here.
Thank You
