I am also tracing a family Cochran/Cochern.The spelling changed in the late 1890's.I have located them in censuses of Marshall Co., IN 1870- 1920 and a couple in Elkhart Co. in 1880.I have found marriages for this family in Marshall, Elkhart and Kosciusko Co. IN.I haven't been able to locate One son George, since the 1880 census where he was 14 years old.A George Cochran married Isabella A. Price in Marshall County 13 April 1888 (Vol. F page 519) George would have been 22 at that time. The Elkhart marriages Book 22 page 16 have the marriage of Clell C. Cochern and Hazel M. Merrit 26 November 1911. Another date is 26 November 1891 (I believe this is the bride's birthday as this marriage is indexed under her name.
I located a listing in Marshall County Cemeteries Vol. 1copyright 1985 by Wendell C. and Jean Tombaugh for Clell C. Cochern in Parks Memorial-I.O.O.F Cemetery Bourbon twp section six row 1 page 365. Cochern, Clell C. 1889-1939.
My guess is that if there is a connection between our families, it would be through George.I hope some of this info is of help to you.
