Dr. James Stell Coberly born 12 Feb 1723 was the son of James and Mary Coberly (Cubberly) of Burlington County, New Jersey. James Cubberly died in New Jersey 1754 and Mary Cubberly died in New Jersey 1772. Both are buried at Pearson Memorial Church Cemetery, Trenton, NJ. Paraphrasing from the Righter book (see below) -- James Cubberly arrived America (presumably) in 1714/1715 and married Mary Pearson about 1716 settling in Nottingham Township. On Apr 4, 1718 he purchased 350 Acres in Nottingham Township. He ived there until his death. The land was conveyed to "James Cubberly, 'sailor'. Incidentally, no other reference to his activities as a sailor has come to light thus far. It may be that he simply signed on the ship as a sailor in order to get to America." Righter says Mary's parents were Robert Pearson and Katrini _________. "They came to America on the ship 'Shield'". Sources -- "Coberly Genealogy", Dr. Bradley Arthuad and "Genealogy of the Cubberly Family", Bertha Cubberly Righter and Sheldon Cubberly. Good Hunting, Craig
