This is for anyone interested in the Cobbs/Colemans/Porter/Higgerson/Chewning/Brogan/Terrett links. About 4-5 years ago, we were given a cookbook at a Porter/Higgerson family reunion. This cookbook has the links to connect all of these families for several generations. There are a few of the more recent families who didn't get a chance to put their children's names in there. (My parents were one of them-their names are in there, but a few of our cousins, mine, my sister and our children's names aren't in there.)

This cookbook is now for sale at the Higgerson School Historic Site's store in New Madrid, MO. The name of the cookbook is "The Porter Way seasoned with Cobbs" !! The number is (573) 748-5716
The old school is at 300 Main Street in New Madrid.
My aunt was one of the teachers at this school. My father, uncles, cousins, and aunts all went to this one room school house when it was sitting on Higgerson Landing. I was raised down the road from the school. My sister, myself, and our cousins used to use this for a playhouse. Several years ago, my family fought to save the school from ruins by repairing it and moving it into town.
