Hello, Susan. Great to hear from you again. By the way, I just noticed a mistake on my last post. Archer A. Davidson was the BROTHER of Baker W. Davidson, not his uncle. They were both children of Baker and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Womack) Davidson. They had another brother named William W. Davidson, and sisters named Mary "Polly" Davidson and Lavinia (Davidson) Thornton. All seem to have been in Charlotte County, VA around 1820, and William W. Davidson (d. 1838) and Archer A. Davidson (d. 1852) both died there.

Only Baker W. Davidson, Mary "Polly" Davidson and Lavinia (Davidson) Thornton (who was dead by 1850, but her husband Francis Thornton and their children were still alive) eventually moved to Buckingham County, VA. Baker W. Davidson was in Alleghany County, VA in 1822, and he married Ann Hamner Cobbs in Bedford County, VA in January 1827. Baker W. Davidson moved to Buckingham County, VA after 1827, and he sold Francis Thornton (his brother-in-law) 12 acres of land in Buckingham County around 1830 or so.

I don't know if Baker W. Davidson and his wife Ann Hamner (Cobbs) Davidson moved to Buckinghma County because of a "Cobbs connection," or if they moved there because the ancestors of this Davidson family had lived there back in the 1760s, and some of their relatives never moved away and were still there. Baker W. Davidson's grandfather, William Davidson, married Martha Baker of Prince Edward County, VA around 1770 (+/-), and they moved to Botetourt County, VA by at least 1774. The 1850 Buckingham County, VA census shows that Baker W. Davidson was born in Botetourt County, VA.

The 1880 Buckingham County, VA census shows that Ann Hamner (Cobbs) Davidson was living with her daughter and son-in-law (the Gilispies). Baker W. Davidson had died in Buckingham County, VA in 1869.

Please let me know if you ever tie Thomas, Senior and Nancy (Watson) Cobbs to a family. Thanks!
