Hello, I am descendant of David Cobb of Madison Co and have the following info from a transcript of Vol163 Alabama Records, Madison Co. "C" Surnames, Estates compiled by Pauline Jones Gandrud.
David Cobb died intestate. Bryant Cobb, W.R.W.Cobb, Francis Worley and wife Charlotte formerly Charlotte Cobb, Azariah Cobb and Jerusha, his wife formerly Jerusha Cobb (daughter of David), John Allison and wife Nancy, formerly Nancy Cobb, Benjamin Huggins and wife Martha formerly Martha Cobb and Martha Cobb the widow of said David Cobb are the heirs at law. 26 August 1839. Orphans Ct. Minute Book, page 495. (Interestingly no mention of son Stancil who immigrated to Robertson Co TX appx 1838)
Orphans Ct Minuate Book, page 497. August 1839. W. R. W. Cobb applies for Letters of Administration on the estate of David Cobb.
Orphans Ct. Minute Book 8, page 404
February 8, 1842. W. R. W. Cobb (born in Reah Co, TN came to AL as a child) applied for letters of Administration on the estate of Martha Cobb.
One family group record I have indicates David died 27 June 1827 in Cave Springs, Madison Co, AL. It also list obit from the Huntsville Democrat July 13 1827: Died at Florence on 27 June last, Mr. David Cobb in his 68th year with lingering disease. He served as a faithful soldier in the Revolutionary WAr under Gen Dickson and also under Gen Carroll at New Orleans. (1812?)
Some information I have from David Cobb descendants indicates David Cobbs's wife was Martha Bryant and his parents were William Cobb m. Sarah Stancil in NC. This info indicates children Stancil b. 24 Jul 1792 in NC; Bryant b. 6 Jul 1795 in NC; W.R.W. b. 8 Jun 1807 Rhea CO TN; Nancy Catherine b. abt 1811, Charlotte, Jerusha, and Martha.
