Paul,I'm returning your brick, you may need it to hit another Cobb researcher in the head. A couple of months ago I postulated that Robert and Josiah might be brothers, but didn't follow up on it(too busy jousting other windmills). David Cobb son of William Cobb was b.Jan. 1, 1742, in Warwick, Franklin Co. His 1st wife yet unknown, died and he then married Priscilla Burnett,Nov.12,1771,in Warwick, the dau. of Robert Burnett and Sarah Belcher. In the 1790 Census, David is listed as having 3people in his home over 16 yrs., 1 would be David, 2. might be David Jr.(who was one of the 1st Cobbs to settle Chautauqua Co., NY., a Holland Land Co. Agent and near which the rest of my known family started settling around him) and 3. might be Josiah who would have been 17 yrs. old. David also had 4 boys under 16, one of which was probably Robert, and then 4 females, Prisclla, and maybe 3 daughters. 9 children in all. In 1796, in Ashfield, Ma. Josiah is listed as a Taxpayer /property owner, and so is Priscilla, so apparently David died between 1790 and 1796. In the 1810 Census for Buckland, Josiah has a woman over 45, living with him, Hannah his 1st wife was 35, Could this be his mother, Priscilla? I couldn't find her elsewhere in the Census, she would have been 62 yrs. By the way, my research shows Josiah, brother to David did have a son named Josiah but he supposedly died in infancy(10mos. or so). But I'm learning to be skeptical on a lot of info. Hannah Crittenden as well as 2 of her sisters were listed as dying when they were 2-3yrs. old, yet I found them, their Spouses and children in official records. I'll keep an open mind, but the circumstantial evidence seems to point to David being Josiah's father. As a direct male decendant of Josiah I'm submitting to the COBB DNA Project. that would probably help ascertain lineage to the Augustine Cobb line. Thankyou for your insite and information. Anything else you may come across will be deeply appreciated (but keep the brick). Cliff
