Hi Ann , I have been researching my Coker family for over a year now , seems as though the Cobb name keeps coming up , such as a witness on Deeds and such . There was a Doctor Cobb in Monroe County ALabama who married a Grace and they raised 2 Hixon nephews who's mother was a Grace , who was a sister to Dr. Cobbs wife . one of the Hixon boysmarried into my Coker family, this was a marriage of 1st cousins . I have a picture of my Coker descendant born 1825 and he looks to be 90% Native American , he also married a Grace who was a sister to Dr. Cobbs wife and a sister to the Hixon boys mother.I keep wondering if the Cobb family married into the Coker family somewhere further back then the 1850'sin my family , but I know that a Cobb family male married into the Grace family and so did a Coker male . My question to you is what part of NW AL. did your Coker's come from , county that is ? Mine as far back as I can go is GA. thenAL. , Possible Pike Co.in the 1830's , still researching this possibility , then Talladega Co. ,Coosa Co. 1840 , Monroe Co. 1850 and Conecuh County 1850 ....... . This is interresting , geneology that is, and your Coker Native American Blood line .
I do not know the Native American blood of my Thompson H. Coker , but Clues have taken me to believe Creek . Whould love to know how you know of your Cherokee blood line .
