Wow, this is all from your "limited resources"? I had seem reference to Michieson or Mekison - I wonder what the story is there as they took the same arms. I had also heard there was a Meek crest with a sun on it but had not seen any documentation until now. One other important piece of information is knowing when the arms were granted. I suppose if Sire Johan de Merk was a knight for Edward I he would be from the later part of the thirteenth century. There were some well to do Meeks in Yorkshire about that time, a Robert le Meke was elected Mayor of York sometime between 1307-1327, I always assumed the chevronelles arms came from them. I'm heading out of town for a few days and probably won't have email access. Thanks for taking time to find all this stuff and I look forward to more discussions perhaps by Saturday or thereabouts.
