Stephen Thanks very much for the research ideas. My question pertains to the Meek surname heraldry and the origin of the 3 known Meek coats of arms. Go to http://www.winmeek.com/Meek%20Coat%20of%20Arms.html where you can see the info I have on these crests.
In Scotland there were 2 prominent Meek families; one known as the Fortissat Meeks and the other as the Ledcarsie Meeks. Individuals from both lines used versions of the same crest so descendants of both lines identify with the same coat of arms.
My first goal would be to identify the person who was granted these arms (that would be the crest with the duck on it).
I also have a general interest in identifying the original recipient of a number of crests in my family history from all over the British Isles and Germany.
Fred
