Hello Stephen,

I have posted 2 photos of the seal here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/snowflaketwo/

Now I have the photos, my impressions are:

The quillion appears to loop through the fifth letter, but it doesn't. I think there may be a scratch or something on the seal, from quillion to the last letter.

I can now see that the word is something like HAPEO,HAPEC, HAPEG or HANEO, HANEC, HANEG or HAREO, HAREC, HAREG.

Also, its hard to tell whether the boar's heads are couped or erased, but seems to be the latter, and the plinth? on the crest could be a wreath after all.

As for the swords, I dont know what they are, as they appear to have slightly curved blades.

I have now been told that George Thistleton was a Timber Merchant in Liverpool, last listed in a directory about 1830, and the family had been in Lancs. for some generations previous. His wife was Mary SOWERBY.

Anything you can find on this seal would help.

Regards Lynne.
