I know little about heraldry. I am writing on behalf of someone else. My friend has a wax impression and photos of a seal. Her cousin is in possession of said seal that has been passed down some generations. The family are not even sure which side of the family it belongs to, if there are any Arms to go with the seal, or even its age. It is an ochre colour , could this mean it is made from gutta-percha? as opposed to lead. It is about 1.5 cm or 0.6 inches in diameter, although the wax may also have shrunk. It has a shield containing three boar's heads, two in chief dexter & sinister and one in fess, two longswords saltire in nombril, points upwards with curved quillions, hilts in dexter & sinister base. Between the hilts is a 4/5 letter word, barely legible, but could be HA_E? The crest contains a plinth?, upon it a boar's head in a standing bowl. There is no mantling, wreath or supporters. How do I find answers to the following: Does the seal have a corresponding CoA. Is it Heraldic, Civic, Merchant or Personal, and whether it is UK or European. What age it is. To whom did it belong. I do not need the "read the book on CoA first" lecture. Any help much appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
