The arms described in the confirmation below appear on 2 Keys gravestones in County Fermanagh and one in Donegal in Northern Ireland(although there is no known connection between the two families). Undoubtedly both families originated in England. How can one find out where and when the arms were originally granted, and in what other locations the same arms may appear in England or Scotland? Thanks, Roy Keys Confirmation Ulster King of Arms: ‘Whereas in respect of John Keys of Killynoogan, Fermanagh, Esq., who died in 1794, setting forth that his family for a number of generations had used certain armorial ensigns, I confirm to him and his descendants… ARMS: Or, a lion rampant gules between two fleur-de-lis azure on a chief of the last three crosses couped gold. CREST: On a wreath of the colours an arm erect in armour couped at the wrist, or, the hand proper, mantled gules, doubled argent. MOTTO: Ne perii nec desperii. ‘To have and to hold’ to John Keys and his descendants 1 Sep 1934.’ Notify Administrator about this message?
