My grandmother was a Carson from Dumfries & Galloway. She had in her possession a coat of arms which she said was specifically for her fathers family of Carsons. It was made in pewter, and has since been handed on to another family member. I have a black & white photo copy of the coat of arms, and would like to know how I can find out who this particular coat of arms was issued to and when, and also the colours.
It is circular, with a bird standing on a twisted perch of sorts, and facing what looks like the sun. Motto is:
Praemuim Virtutis Gloria. (The reward of Virtue is Glory)
