Hello Joanne,
The arms illustrated in the link given to you by Peter http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~billburgoyne/robinson_coat_of_arms.htm are the armorial bearings of Robinson (a baronet of Rokeby Park Yorkshire). This line of descent is extinct and therefore these arms can not be claimed by any living person. It is typical of “Bucket Shops” who, in response to the request “what is my coat of arms” will simply select one from Burke’s General Armory and it will most likely be from an extinct line so that no one can sue them for using their arms.

You mentioned that your Robinsons came from Scotland so I thought it would be of more use for you to learn of the armorial bearings granted to Scottish Robinsons.

I have done a short paper illustrating the Scottish Robinson Armorial Bearings and this can be found at: http://heraldry.whitecairns.com/robinson_arms.pdf

There is one record of a Robinson entry in the Register of all arms and bearings prior to 1902 and the other entries are after that date. There are remarkable similarities in two of the arms between the Robinson arms and those of Robertson; namely the use of a wolf’s head.

I hope this has been of some use to you.

Martin Goldstraw
