Hi Guys, The problem with the Robinsons and the Gunns from whence they came is they were badly dispersed during the Clearances and a lot of changes happened. As the Robinsons migrated the coat of arms was changed a little to get the English off their backs, as highland clans were not too popular. We seem to have ended up with a few versions. Without knowing what the Lord Lyon of Scotland has on file, the most common commonalities are three stags with a chevron usually a forest green of the colour of our old tartan. Also, the leaves are from the laburnum tree native to the highlands and the colours of the heraldry. Those who migrated to England went to a black chevron for the purpose above. From the best of my knowledge and research the with green chevron and the rest is the original from when Robert Gunn founded the line in Braemore. Visit if you can, the emotion to see where your family had to leave is overwhelming. Anyway thats as much as I know about the heraldry. Also look up the Gunn badge as thats part of the package. Hope this helps. Cheers, Brandon Notify Administrator about this message?
