Mary-which William are you looking for? There were quite a few in SC over the yrs. There was one who was B. 1849, d. 1929; the son of Thomas G. Coates who was B. 1824; mother Margaret Copeland,b. 1824, d. before 1860. There was also the Rev. Wm Coates who was well known in Sc. He may be the one you're looking for as I think he went into Ohio. Let me know which one and I'll help if I can. grampajoec
