There should be several folks out there with the information you seek, so hopefully my answer will not be the last or necessarily the most complete.

Lemuel Coates is the son of Thomas Coates (b. Yorkshire, 1741 d. Smith's Creek, N.B. 3 Apr 1813) and Elizabeth Henry. This Coates family emigrated to Cumberland County, Nova Scotia in 1772, then resettled in Kings County, New Brunswick in 1803.

Robert Coates is the son of Robert Coates (b. 3 Dec 1773, Maccan Cumberland County, N.S,d. 3 Feb 1817)and Jane Ripley (b. 1773 d. 1843). Robert (Jr.) is the grandson of the aforementioned Thomas Coates.

I have a little further information of the children of Robert and Jane Coates which I can send you separately.
