Found this death notice in a copy of a Dec. 15, 1897 issue of Northwestern Christian Advocate.

Coates.-- William H. Coates was born in Abingdon, Pa., Nov 22, 1818 and died in Monticello, Wis., Nov 19, 1897. He married Jane Morely of Susquehanna, Pa., in 1839 and moved west in 1846. For thirty-five years he lived in Monticell. Bro. Coates was in his usual health up to a few days of death. He was a memeber of our church and a trustee; he practiced industry, frugality and economy. He home was one of order, neatness, and painstatking work.
