I am beginning to have doubts as to the parentage of JANE SMILEY COAT(E)S. Information that I have gives her dob as abt 1760. Further information gives the dob of MARTHA LAMAR as abt 1750 and that of NATHANIEL COAT(E)S as abt 1747. If these dates are correct, Jane cannot possibly be the child of Martha and Nathaniel. Because of Jane's middle name, I suspect that there is a connection to the SMILEY family.
